Päästeliit

Tanel August Lind

The Rescue Association, a group of voluntary rescue organizations in Estonia, has been working to reduce accidents and losses for over a decade. We partnered with them to rethink how their mission is communicated and supported online.

Process and Problem Solving

To get started, we dove into field research. We visited rescue HQs, tagged along on operations, and interviewed the rescuers to really get a grasp of their world. These experiences were key to shaping our design approach, which needed to be clear yet authentic to the rescue experience. Our main objective was creating a website that not only informed but also effectively reflected the rescuers' work and encouraged donations and involvement. The existing RA visual identity needed to be evolved and refreshed in order to make it on-par for digital use. Alongside the refined logo and core components, we created a series of new assets that helped to define and highlight the characteristics and attributes of the rescuers.

My Role and Contributions

As the Art Director, I worked on refreshing the brand identity and collaborated with illustrators and photographers. Adventure photographers Jarek Jõepera and Timo Palo made a solid match for the project – braving tough conditions. Photography captured the intensity and unpredictability of rescue work, creating visuals that felt direct and honest.
For the web design, we made sure the new site was user-friendly and matched the refreshed brand. We built a custom WordPress website and templates, giving the Rescue Association the tools to manage their content easily.

Results and Impact

The updated website provided clearer pathways for support, fundraising, and recruitment. The impact was measurable: campaigns exceeded targets, and online engagement grew. But more importantly, the association’s digital presence now reflects the urgency and purpose of its mission—connecting people to the reality of rescue work in ways that feel direct and human.
