Flatland: A Geometric Card Game Adventure

Flatland is an engaging card game inspired by Edwin Abbott's novella "Flatland," which explores themes of dimensions and geometric shapes. The game is divided into two parts and features five mini card puzzles: Key Card, Ouroboros, Fragments of Flatland, 3 Dogs in a Trench Coat, and Dustbin of History. Players must solve these puzzles to save the various shapes within Flatland.
The game's design is influenced by Bauhaus principles, emphasizing simplicity and functionality through geometric forms. It features lines, circles, squares, and triangles, each represented in a combination of two primary colors: red, yellow, and blue. The final puzzle, Fragments of Flatland, uniquely uses all three colors, symbolizing the players' progress.
In Part 1, shapes are arranged in a gridded format with overlapping elements, reflecting the structured society depicted in Abbott's work. In Part 2, the designs begin to appear "eaten away," representing the peril that threatens the geometric inhabitants. This visual transition adds tension and metaphorically highlights the challenges faced by the shapes. Overall, Flatland combines strategic gameplay with artistic inspiration, inviting players to immerse themselves in its geometric world.
