Directional Banners

The Greenery Nursery came to me asking about some outdoor banner designs. Around the nursery, they have some long banners that hang from posts directing customers to where different types of plants are located. I was tasked to create 7 banners – Shade Plants, Citrus Trees, Terrace, Rose Garden, Patio, and California Friendly – because the ones they had were getting faded and outdated.
I started by choosing a background color for the banners that would go nicely in the garden center. After talking to the owner, we settled on a tan color - as white would be blinding on sunny days, and black will fade easily. This tan color will age nicely as the banners get weathered and worn.
All designs have some imagery that related to the area that the banner will go to match plants.

Street Side Banners

They also wanted new banners for their street side, which has one banner that stays the same all year displaying their name, logo and subtle design while the others change seasonally.
For the seasonal banners, I was given colors that the owner wanted to use that he thought would complement the season. I designed with those colors in mind and added some floral designs that were appropriate for the given time of year.
For the branded Greenery banner, we chose a dark green color that was used throughout the other seasonal banners and brought them all together nicely.
