Doun Lambert is the owner of Anew Vibe Studio – a calming and trendy yoga studio Copperopolis, CA. The project scope was to create a couple of flyers, one advertising her next Sound Bath event next to the pool at the Gateway Hotel and other advertising her mini classes at the Wellness Fair in the Copperopolis Town Square. These flyers would likely be placed inside of shop windows or handed to people in town.
Doun and I had an initial call to discuss her brand vision – she described her brand as “eastern and tropical with no curly frou frou lines” – a slight modern feel to it. It was also very important that her brand gave a sense of peace, zen, and relaxation feel to it. She currently has an audience of older women and she wanted to reach more younger women who enjoy self-care.
After the call, I did a lot of research on her business. I looked at her website and Instagram searching for elements that I thought could be beneficial in this design.
Her yoga studio is beautiful and definitely appeals to a younger audience. I wanted to evoke the feeling of her studio in the flyers so that people who have never stepped foot in her studio could get the feel just from this piece of paper. (Doun’s yoga studio is pictured below.)
Her primary brand color is purple. Since she had no previous brand colors, I thought the best colors for her were going to be taken straight from her studio – green, a light tan, and dark brown. These colors together portray a sense of earthly peace and zen.
I designed a couple of rough drafts that seemed very messy and disorganized. However, after seeing all of this text on a page, I was able to play around with how to best fit two photos and this text written by Jill Bruton Copy.
I wanted these photos to entice viewers, so they are outlined in a lighter green. People are visual and will be looking first at the images. The images need to jump off the page and be appealing for people to come closer and read the text on the flyer. I wanted to make sure there was visual interest, using small splashes of purple throughout the design as well.
To create the “Eastern” feel, I made dark corner borders on the images, mimicking the modern, zen style.
I loved working with Kaylie for my marketing flyers for current and future events. She was very professional and did a wonderful job editing and providing a beautiful product - Doun, Owner of Anew Vibe Studio
