Product Description

I developed a SaaS tool that streamlines tendering and procurement for the construction industry. With sourcing, procurement, estimation, and auction modules, it empowers buyers and sellers to manage their projects efficiently. By automating communication and spreadsheets, the tool significantly reduces time spent on manual tasks.

Client Requirement

The client wanted to simplify the current process for buyers and sellers in the construction industry, who were spending a lot of time managing back-and-forth communication via emails and handling everything in Excel. In some cases, they were using multiple software solutions to maintain their projects. The goal was to consolidate all these tasks into a single platform, making it easier to manage and more efficient.

Design Process

The goal was to design a platform that would consolidate tasks like communication, project management, and data handling, all in one place. The process began with understanding user pain points and ensuring the design addressed those challenges through a seamless, intuitive interface.
Ideation
Brainstormed solutions to address the inefficiencies in the current construction procurement process, focusing on consolidating communication, data management, and project tracking into a single platform. We aimed to enhance usability while reducing manual tasks for both buyers and sellers.
2. Competitor & Relevant Industry Research
Analyzed existing solutions in the construction and procurement space to identify gaps, benchmark features, and gather insights on best practices and user expectations. This research helped refine our tool’s unique value proposition, ensuring it stood out in a competitive market.
3. Creating User Journeys
Mapped out detailed user flows for both buyers and sellers, ensuring a smooth and intuitive experience across sourcing, procurement, estimation, and auction modules. The user journeys were designed to minimize complexity and guide users effortlessly through the entire process.

The development phase focused on building a robust and efficient system that integrates various key modules to streamline the procurement and tendering process in the construction industry. 
Quick 5-Step Tender Issuing Process
Streamlined the tender process into five simple steps, enabling users to quickly issue tenders with minimal complexity. This design reduces time spent and enhances overall efficiency, while maintaining accuracy across the process. It ensures a smooth experience for both buyers and sellers.
Vendor Marketplace
Built a vendor marketplace with advanced filtering and search capabilities, allowing users to browse a wide selection of vendors efficiently. The marketplace consolidates all vendor options in one platform, making it easier to find the right fit for each project. Advanced search ensures precision in finding suitable vendors.
Quote Capture
Developed a feature enabling users to upload PDF quotes, which are automatically converted into structured system data. This eliminates manual data entry and reduces errors in processing. It simplifies the way users manage vendor submissions and keeps everything organized.
Price Comparison
Implemented a tool for side-by-side comparison of quotes submitted by multiple vendors. This helps users evaluate various options to make informed decisions on the best vendor for their needs. The tool ensures that cost and other factors are easily analyzed for optimal decision-making.
Procurement Tracker
Introduced a real-time procurement tracker that monitors material usage in comparison to the allowable limits within a project. This provides clear insights into resource consumption and ensures that projects stay on track. The tracker helps avoid overuse or under-utilization of materials.
Email Reports
Automated email reports that are sent daily, summarizing required actions for each user in the procurement workflow. This feature keeps users informed and ensures that no important tasks are overlooked. It promotes accountability and improves task management.
Resource Integration for BOQs
Integrated a system for generating BOQs (Bill of Quantities) with complex calculations, using pre-uploaded resources. This seamless connection between estimation, sourcing, and procurement improves accuracy and automates a typically manual process. Users can efficiently track resources through every project stage.
