Nue.Life. Transforming Mental Wellness - From Skepticism to Trust, Embrace Healing through Innovative Psychedelic Therapy App

In a world seeking innovative solutions to mental wellness challenges, Nue.Life emerged as a trailblazing project aimed at revolutionizing the landscape of psychedelic therapy. Our mission was ambitious yet clear: to seamlessly transpose the profound experience of on-site ketamine therapy into a digital realm, providing users with the solace and guidance of therapeutic support right within the comfort of their own homes. Spanning 8 intensive weeks, our dedicated team embarked on a transformative journey to not only address complex challenges but also to construct a platform that radiated trust and reassurance to individuals navigating the path to healing.

UX Research

Our research journey embarked on a comprehensive exploration, amplified by a meticulously adapted version of the Google Design Sprint methodology, tailored for remote collaboration. We immersed ourselves within the minds of users, diligently engaging the founding team, company staff, and medical professionals. Over 30 users, including those inquisitive about psychedelic therapies, became our compass. This immersive approach involved:

Framing the Problem: One-on-one interviews with the company's executives and team leaders laid the groundwork for defining, understanding, and prioritizing complex business challenges. Simultaneously, we formed a cohesive team, streamlined operations, and scouted users for prototype testing.

Parallel Sprints: Over six intensive weeks, we orchestrated parallel sprints, effectively compressing two weeks' worth of work into one. Dubbed "Sprint #1" and "Sprint #2," they included activities like Problem Statement, How Might We, Target, Sketch, Art Museum, Heat Map, and Storyboard. The process was orchestrated in an asynchronous fashion, with Mondays and Wednesdays dedicated to Sprint #1, and Tuesdays and Thursdays focused on Sprint #2. Fridays were reserved for insights alignment.

User Insights: We engaged in real-time testing with 5 to 7 users, employing Lookback.com to share screens while capturing users' reactions on camera. This approach ensured a direct and unfiltered window into users' experiences, guiding us toward more informed design choices.

Key Research Findings

The research unveiled profound insights that became our North Star in navigating the design process.

Streamlined Experience: Users sought an app with a focused feature set, eschewing complexity for a clean and intuitive user journey.

Swift Onboarding: A seamless onboarding experience, with succinct and easy-to-understand questions, emerged as a priority.

Beyond Ketamine Therapy: Users craved tools for managing stress, anxiety, and negative emotions beyond ketamine therapy sessions.

The Role of Music: Music was a powerful coping mechanism, providing solace during challenging moments.

Privacy and Security: Users expressed concerns about sharing sensitive information with therapists via chat, highlighting the paramount importance of privacy.

Designing for Trust and Connection:

Armed with these insights, our design decisions crystallized. Through a series of design exercises, from note-taking to storyboarding, we refined our approach to create a harmonious user experience that seamlessly melded empathetic design with technological prowess. Each choice was made with the user's journey in mind, ensuring that every touchpoint fostered trust, connection, and growth.

Results

Nue.Life wasn't merely an app; it was a transformative journey that resonated deeply with users seeking mental wellness and healing. The streamlined app experience, built on a foundation of empathy and robust privacy measures, resonated profoundly. Engagement surged, and the platform became a beacon of hope, empowering users to take control of their mental health journeys.

In the realm where innovation and compassion intersect, Nue.Life stands as a testament to the profound impact of user-centric design. By harnessing cutting-edge methodologies, empathetic insights, and technological prowess, we not only addressed challenges but also kindled a bond of trust that empowered individuals to embark on their therapeutic journey with unwavering confidence.
