01 — Brand World

Dog Ear is a second-hand book store built around the feeling of stepping slightly outside everyday life.
The visual identity explores a space between reality and imagination, using warm tones, editorial typography and softly illustrated imagery to create the sense that time moves differently once you enter.
The goal was not to create a fully fictional world, but a quieter, more personal version of reality.

02 — Concept & Visual Direction

At the heart of Dog Ear is the idea that every book has already lived once.
Folded corners, worn covers, notes and traces of previous readers become part of the brand story, turning each second-hand book into an object with memory and character.
The visual direction moves between photography and illustration to reflect this idea of being somewhere between the real and the imagined.

03 — Identity in Space

The identity was designed to extend naturally into the physical bookshop environment.
Signage, logo applications and printed elements use a warm, restrained visual language inspired by books, folded pages and the quiet character of independent bookshops.
The tote bag continues the same system, turning the brand into something visitors can carry beyond the store.

04 — Brand Language & Atmosphere

The brand system is built around ideas of reverie, intimacy, memory, time, discovery and nostalgia.
These themes guide the colour palette, imagery and tone of voice, creating a visual world that feels calm, tactile and slightly removed from everyday life.
Dog Ear is not about escaping reality completely. It is about finding a small space within it where the outside world becomes quieter.

05 — Reading Club & Digital Extension

The concept was extended into a Reading Club experience, connecting the physical bookshop with a simple digital booking journey.
The interface allows readers to discover upcoming sessions, reserve a place and manage their booking while keeping the visual language consistent with the wider Dog Ear identity.
This extension turns the brand from a book store into a small cultural community built around reading, discovery and time shared with others.
