Project Brief

A search page allowing users where they can browse and explore trending crypto or nft.

User Research and Findings

Secondary Research
I started the project by diving into User Research to get a better grip on the products. Given of tight schedule and budget, I choose the Secondary Research method as it offered the most practical approach.
Self Analysis - I decided to do an in-depth analysis of the app first. I wanted to understand the functionalities, overall architecture, and navigation.
Competitor Analysis - Examine how other cryptos application present search results and highlight best practices.
Usability test - I asked my friends to try their app and point out what they feel about the search page.
Findings
This is where you'll discover the primary problem and key discoveries through the User Research.
The search bar collapsed with other items when scrolling
There is a lot of negative space that I think can use it to improvise the layout
Highlight contents lack of information
Search history too prominent
Journey Map
I then plotted user journey on finding cryptocurrency’s onto a journey map to further understand the user’s feelings, pain points and experience. This map shows a typical user’s journey of searching the items, from getting started, to review search results and then exploring cryptocurrency’s details.

Design Process

Wireframes
As part of my initial design process, I took the initiative to create wireframes. These wireframes allowed me to visually outline my ideas and concepts in a tangible way, aiding me in translating my thoughts into a concrete design foundation.
Recommendations
Clear Visual Hierarchy
Rationale: Applying the principle of hierarchy, organize search results based on relevance and trending. Use larger fonts for product titles and bold text for key information.
Practice: This follows the design principle of visual hierarchy, making it easier for users to quickly identify important information ("Proximity" and "Contrast" principles).
Information Hierarchy
Rationale: A well-structured information hierarchy aids users in quickly locating relevant content.
Practice: Organize search results with a clear taxonomy, grouping cryptocurrencies by categories such as tokens, coins, or market sectors.
Rich Search Results
Rationale: Users need a quick overview of the most important details about each cryptocurrency in the search page.
Practice: Display cryptocurrency logos, names, tickers, current prices, market caps, and percentage changes. This abides by the "Hick's Law," which states that increasing the number of choices will increase the decision time, but providing essential information at a glance mitigates this effect.

Final Design and Solutions

I'm excited to show you what I've been working on: the final design and solution I've created. This new look isn't just about visuals – it makes the page more exciting to use and changes how people interact with it.
You can see how I redesigned the app and what is my solution in this walkthrough.
