This exploration presents a nutrition tracker mobile app designed to help users understand their daily intake through clear visuals and simple interactions.
The Challenge
Many nutrition apps overwhelm users with numbers and complex charts, making daily tracking feel tiring instead of helpful. The challenge was to keep nutritional data informative while remaining easy to read and approachable on mobile screens.
Design Approach
We designed a mobile-first experience that prioritizes visual clarity and quick actions. Calories, macros, and meal history are presented using cards, progress rings, and timelines that are easy to scan and interact with using simple taps.
Key Features Highlighted
The app highlights AI food scanning, detailed meal breakdowns, daily calorie tracking, and a structured food log timeline. Each feature is optimized for fast input and clear feedback throughout the day.
Visibility of System Status
The interface should clearly communicate users’ current status through immediate and understandable feedback.
In the initial version, calorie and macronutrient information was shown mainly as numbers, making it difficult for users to quickly understand their progress toward daily goals. The lack of visual feedback required users to interpret the data mentally, reducing clarity at a glance.
In the improved version, progress bars and “current vs target” values make the system status instantly visible. Users can immediately see how much they have consumed and how close they are to their goals without extra effort. This improvement increases clarity, reduces cognitive load, and makes the component more intuitive and actionable.
