Overview

TherapEase is a mobile app created to make mental health care more accessible, affordable, and stigma-free for people living in Kenya. The platform connects users with licensed therapists and mental health professionals through secure messaging, phone calls, or video sessions. Each method is priced differently, allowing users to choose the format that best suits their comfort and budget. Users can book individual, couples, or group sessions in just a few taps and sync their appointments to third-party calendars like Google Calendar. With a strong focus on ease of use and local relevance, TherapEase supports multiple payment methods like M-Pesa and T-Kash. This makes it a practical solution for people from all walks of life.

What Are We Solving? 🤔

Mental health support in Kenya faces several challenges: high costs, limited availability of professionals, and deep-rooted social stigma. Even for those open to therapy, finding the right specialist, booking a session, and navigating payment options can be overwhelming. TherapEase addresses these gaps by creating a safe and user-friendly platform that allows users to connect with specialists, select their preferred session type, and get support at their convenience.
Whether it's an individual seeking personal therapy, a couple working through relationship challenges, or a group session for shared support, the app is designed to make the process simple, flexible, and reassuring.

How Will We Solve It? 🧠

To make therapy more approachable and widely available in Kenya, the design focused on:
Streamlining the appointment booking process into three easy steps
Highlighting therapist profiles, specialties, and user reviews to help users make informed choices
Simplifying homepage access to top-rated specialists and upcoming appointments
Allowing users to choose between message, call, or video sessions based on comfort and budget
Supporting calendar integration to keep users organized
Offering a range of secure, localized payment methods like M-Pesa and T-Kash
The app was carefully designed to feel supportive and intuitive, removing any barriers that might prevent someone from seeking the help they need.

💡Highlight: Quick Access to the Right Therapist

The homepage allows users to instantly find top-rated therapists or search by specialty or name, eliminating the need to navigate through complex menus or filters. Users can also view their next upcoming session right on the home screen, making it easy to stay on track. This layout reduces friction, saves time, and supports users in moments when they may already feel overwhelmed.

💡Highlight: Streamlined 3-Step Booking Process

Booking a session is a simple and stress-free process. Users begin by exploring a specialist’s profile, which includes a short bio, areas of expertise, ratings, and reviews. They then choose how they want to connect, either via message, phone, or video, directly in the app, with each having a different price. Finally, they confirm the session using a clean, straightforward booking screen that captures the session type, date, and time. The experience is designed to reduce mental effort while making scheduling smooth and intuitive.

💡Highlight: Flexible, Localized Payments

Mental health services should be available to everyone, not just those with credit cards. TherapEase includes Kenya’s most widely used payment platforms, M-Pesa and T-Kash, along with other digital options. M-Pesa, in particular, plays a critical role as it is the most common method of cashless and online payments in Kenya. Whether a user is in Nairobi or a remote town, they can confidently pay in the way that suits them best. This increases adoption, trust, and repeat use.
