The ‘RapCaviar Presents’ Hulu series features Tyler, the Creator in their first episode titled "Breaking the Mold." This episode highlights Tyler's music evolution within the Hip Hop genre.
Tyler, the Creator born Tyler Gregory Okonma, is a rapper, record producer, and music video director from Los Angeles, California. In the Hulu series, Tyler reflects on how he would get recognized by being the funny guy instead of for his music. It was in that moment that he realized he needed to switch it up and make music his main focus. “no more being silly...music first.”
With a determined focus on improving his music, Tyler began spending countless hours researching how to master songwriting. To gain a fresh perspective, he began listening to different artists and genres to see different ways of approaching music.
Artist and producer Pharrell Williams became a mentor to Tyler, encouraging and motivating him to keep perfecting his craft. This collaboration led to the creation of Tyler's third album Cherry Bomb in 2015.
Since then, Tyler has created multiple Grammy winning albums.
Over the years, Tyler's music has gained tremendous attention and praise. From his unique style, sound and creative directed music videos, he is arguably one of the most talented artists of this decade.
