Design of a limited-edition sportswear line for veter.cc

Task
To come up with a concept and design 4 pieces of sportswear: a trisuit, a tank top, and a t-shirt. As a limited collection, the goal was to make it visually appealing and commercially successful — in other words, to create designs that athletes would want to buy.
Solution
To reach a wider audience, I decided to make each of the four designs visually distinct, while still united by a shared concept. The idea was that everyone could find something that resonates with them.
I proposed three conceptual directions for the collection: – wildlife – cities – natural elements.
The client chose the “countries & cities” concept. I started by researching associations and iconic features of each location. I didn’t avoid popular symbols — instead, I reinterpreted them. I believe not everything "touristy" is cliché. Many well-known places are part of world heritage, and they deserve to be celebrated, not dismissed just because they’re familiar.

CORDOBA

The first impression of the city in its open people, loud conversations in the streets, how everything around is bright and cheerful. So summer colors, a swirl of traditional patterns and graffiti. On this jersey there is no center of composition, no accents, it's about freedom and exuberance of life.
City architecture, the national flag, local artists, traditional patterns, geographic coordinates, and the colors that reflect the life and spirit of the country.

TOKYO
It's neon on the streets, traditional ornaments permeating houses and clothes, narrow mountain roads in the dark and respect for rules and traditions. This jersey has an asymmetrical composition, one main accent and nothing superfluous. The pattern of waves became a mountain, the many illuminated signs became large typography on a night background.
The sun and ocean waves symbolize calm, resilience, and strength. Imaginary symbols like “the wind loves you” were also used. Cannabis leaves, once used to decorate garments, carried a wish for strength and endurance.

Nature that is simple and vivid, blue skies, architecture, and traditional national ornaments.

MOSCOW
Hardest Jersey. Because it evokes many more associations than other countries and cities. Here I tried to show polar feelings: on the one hand, simplicity, nature in daisy, on the other hand, this craving for grandeur: huge cathedrals, avenues and a constant striving upwards.
DUBAI
For me, it has a lot of air in it: in the past, deserts and vastness, in the present, infinitely tall skyscrapers striving upwards. It's stylish and bold in its brevity. On the jersey, the transformed traditional pattern looks like something futuristic against a skyscraper. And it's as if history still goes hand in hand with technology in this country.

Result
Each design had its own character: some people went for the safe beige, others chose the classic black, and the boldest athletes picked the two vibrant jerseys.
Despite their differences, all four designs shared core visual elements:
National patterns
National patterns
Spray-paint accents
Graphic color blocking
City coordinates
The collection received a lot of praise and quickly sold out. Customers asked about a second release — but the value of a limited edition lies in its rarity ;) You can’t create a one-size-fits-all design that pleases everyone — but judging by the feedback, each person found their own favorite among the four.
