Design, illustration, layout and marketing materials for an educational game by The Brainy Band.
Task
Design and illustrate the client’s first party game. The challenge was to depict the "spoiled fruit" special cards in a way that felt fun and bright — not unpleasant. In addition, I had to create product card visuals for marketplaces. And all of this had to be done in just two weeks.
Solution
I worked in stages — starting with the most gameplay-critical components and ending with the product card design. For every element, I followed one process: market analysis, sketching, competitor comparison, and final illustration.
Result
The deadline was met — the game was sent to print exactly two weeks later. Each visual component supports the game mechanics. The spoiled fruits turned out bold and expressive thanks to emotion-focused drawing and reference work. The game’s illustration style stayed true to the client’s brand — but the cheeky characters and vibrant look gave it the feel of a true party game.
Studio staff and customers say it’s the most visually appealing game the studio has released.
It’s also the fastest illustrated game ever produced for this client.
Over 1,000 copies sold, with half of them in the first few months — that’s 15% more than the client’s other new releases.
