Nurture What's Natural

Ash & Juniper

Ashton came to me with raw talent, a clear vision for her aesthetics business, and no brand to show for it. Previous logo attempts from other designers hadn't landed. She knew what she wanted but couldn't articulate it visually. I helped her find it — building a brand identity rooted in body positivity, natural beauty, and the premium medical aesthetic she wanted to project in a market full of trendy, bohemian competitors.
Problem
Ash & Juniper was operating entirely on word of mouth — serving people Ashton already knew without any visual identity to attract new clients or signal the quality of her work. Previous logo concepts from other designers missed the mark entirely, leaving her without a foundation to build on. She was ready to launch her business properly but had nothing to launch with. The aesthetics industry in her region was saturated with predictable, trendy branding — cutesy fonts, boho aesthetics, floral marks. Ashton wanted something different. Something that felt medical, premium, and genuinely personal. Challenge
The biggest challenge was the brand mark. Ashton wanted to incorporate her initials — A and J — alongside the ash and juniper trees native to Southern Utah where she grew up. That sounds straightforward. In practice it created a complex visual problem — tree illustrations, branch motifs, and leaf details that kept pulling the mark toward the very aesthetic she was trying to avoid. Multiple rounds of concepts explored different directions before we landed on the right approach — a refined juniper tree illustration contained within a clean pill shape, balanced and intentional. I also pushed for a secondary monogram mark so the identity would remain sharp and legible at small sizes, in embroidery, and across digital applications where the full tree would lose its impact. Solution
The final identity system centered on a refined juniper tree mark paired with a clean A&J monogram for responsive applications. Typography was built around Win CF for its soft elegance — neither clinical nor casual — complemented by Avenir for its clean, friendly approachability. The color palette drew from the natural tones of Southern Utah, grounding the brand in place while reinforcing the premium, trustworthy feel Ashton needed. Together we developed "Nurture What's Natural" as the brand's guiding phrase — a direct push against the vanity-driven messaging common in the aesthetics industry and a clear signal of Ashton's genuine philosophy. I delivered a comprehensive visual identity board covering logo suite, responsive marks, color system, and typography — giving Ashton everything she needed to launch with confidence and consistency. Following the brand launch, Ash & Juniper grew from a referral-only operation to an established aesthetics business with consistent clientele. Client volume grew significantly, services expanded to include chemical peels and additional treatments, and the business became a licensed LLC operating across multiple regions of Utah. The brand Ashton launched with continues to be the foundation of her growing practice.
