3D Data Modeling and Process Analysis

Richard Roach

Created a three dimensional model of the river/estuary terminal's docking area for an oil and gas companies in Bayonne NJ. This model captures the sea wall, three oil tanker mooring cells and the sea floor. Built from surveys of hydrographic and site inspection data, the model depicts the sea floor as it interacts with the steel docks. The model was used to inform the terminal manager and company leadership of the docking clearance for tankers offloading cargo oil.
As tide levels change throughout the day, this model visualizes oil tanker minimum hull clearance during scheduled deliveries. This in-turn informs any necessary dredging operations to keep the port open for cargo. The model is also used to pinpoint diver maintenance inspection activities along the sea wall.
