Project Overview
Hongyun Tea is a premium Chinese red tea website concept designed to combine traditional Chinese tea culture with a modern luxury digital experience.
The goal was to create a website that does not feel like a common ecommerce store. Instead, the site was designed as a cinematic brand experience where visitors can feel the warmth, heritage, and ritual of Chinese red tea from the first screen.
The website uses deep red tones, antique gold accents, warm cream backgrounds, Chinese-inspired typography, mountain imagery, tea steam, red leaves, and elegant product presentation to create a refined and emotional user experience.
Design Challenge
Most tea websites use simple product grids, natural green colors, and basic ecommerce layouts. For Hongyun Tea, I wanted to create something more memorable and premium.
The challenge was to design a website that feels cultural and traditional, but still modern, clean, responsive, and easy to use. The homepage needed to stop users from scrolling too quickly and immediately communicate the brand’s premium feeling.
Creative Direction
The visual direction is based on:
Modern Chinese Red Tea Luxury
I used a deep wine-red color system to represent warmth, richness, and the depth of red tea. Antique gold details add a premium feeling, while warm cream sections create balance and readability.
The visual language includes Chinese mountain landscapes, tea ceremony imagery, seal-inspired details, soft paper textures, red tea leaves, dark wood surfaces, and elegant serif typography.
Homepage Experience
The homepage is the core of the project.
I designed a cinematic hero section that works like a premium sticky-scroll experience. Instead of a normal hero banner, the hero introduces the brand through atmosphere, product, and storytelling.

The goal was to make the first screen powerful enough to stop users and make them want to explore the brand.
Interactive Collection Section
Instead of using a normal product grid on the homepage, I created a unique tea discovery section called:

This section helps users explore different red teas by mood, taste, origin, and ritual. Each tea has its own story, Chinese name, tasting notes, origin, mood, tea color, and CTA.

A detailed product page for Yunnan Dianhong with image gallery, tasting notes, origin, harvest season, caffeine level, brewing guide, reviews, and add-to-cart flow.
Our Story
A storytelling page about the brand’s origin, tea heritage, Yunnan mountains, traditional craft, timeline, values, and tea-making process.
Tea Ritual
A ceremonial experience page showing brewing steps, tea tools, guide table, ritual imagery, and a warm cultural story.
Journal
A clean editorial page for tea knowledge, culture, rituals, and brand stories.
Contact
A contact and tea house page with form, location details, business information, customer care, FAQ, and newsletter signup.

The design helps the brand communicate warmth, heritage, craftsmanship, and luxury while still providing a clear ecommerce structure for users to explore products and make purchases.
