Overview🔎

This UK-based client was experiencing consistent traffic on their website, except that the high search volume keyword they wished to rank for was not on page 1 of Google.

Problem & Solution

I identified the problem real-quick by analyzing its on-page SEO factors and doing the URL inspection of that keyword in Google Search Console. Here's the solution:
Fixing the SEO title, meta description, H1, and linking structure of the page
Generate FAQs related to the content
Generated new FAQpage schema for rich results
Internal linking

Process

This website is on the Ruby and Rails framework, and it had its own front-end design where I couldn't perform many actions despite coordinating with the developer multiple times. However, through effective content optimization, on-page SEO, and technical SEO assistance, I managed to improve the page ranking for the keyword "uPVC windows" from page 2 to page 1 of Google in just one month.
Here's what I did:
I began with a content audit and realized that it didn't hold much value. When selling something, it is essential to have strong copywriting skills that address the problem and highlight the benefits of the solution being offered.
I discovered additional keywords related to the main keyword (a total of 3, including 1 main keyword and 2 related keywords). Using transactional intent, I created a new SEO title, meta description, and H1 to encourage users to buy.
The existing FAQs contained irrelevant information about doors, which made no sense. Consequently, I completely revamped the FAQ section, introducing 5 new FAQs.
To increase the chances of appearing on page 1 of Google, I generated a FAQpage schema.
The final step in the process involved implementing internal links. However, instead of linking from the page I wanted to rank, I strategically provided internal link juice from articles to the desired page for ranking in Google.
To quickly identify anchor text opportunities for internal linking, I utilized the Google Search Operator (site:website URL "uPVC windows") and found more than enough options.

Results

The results were astonishing. The image shows the difference between the date ranges (4th Oct 2022 - 4th November 2022) and (4th November 2022 - 4th December 2022).
The clicks experienced a whopping increase of 85.35%, and the impressions rose by 38.94% in just one month.

Takeaways

No matter how lightweight your website is, if the content is not properly optimized and aligned with the user search intent, it won't make any progress. And while content is king, one must understand that ignoring other parts of SEO will backfire heavily in the long run.
