Overview
As the Development Manager at Sony Pictures, I played a pivotal role in creating a superior user experience (UX) for a proprietary employee training database. This project aimed to streamline the training process for over 600 employees and improve overall engagement with the platform.
Objectives
Enhance the usability and accessibility of the employee training database.
Improve user satisfaction and engagement among employees during training.
Facilitate efficient training management and tracking for HR and management teams.
Approach
Collaboration with Software Developers I worked closely with Sony’s software development team to align our goals and ensure that user experience was prioritized throughout the development process. Regular meetings and brainstorming sessions facilitated open communication and collaboration.
User Research and Feedback Gathering Conducted surveys and focus groups with employees to gather insights into their training experiences and identify pain points. This user-centered approach informed the design and functionality of the database.
Design and Implementation of UX Improvements Based on user feedback, I advocated for and implemented several key improvements, including:
Intuitive Navigation: Streamlined the database interface to allow for easier access to training modules and resources.
Personalized Dashboards: Created user-specific dashboards that highlighted relevant training materials and progress tracking, enhancing engagement and motivation.
Mobile Compatibility: Ensured the database was mobile-friendly, allowing employees to access training materials anytime, anywhere.
Training and Support Developed comprehensive training materials and support resources to help employees navigate the new system effectively. Conducted workshops and Q&A sessions to ensure a smooth transition.
Results
Increased User Satisfaction Post-implementation surveys indicated a 35% increase in employee satisfaction with the training process, highlighting improved usability and engagement.
Higher Training Completion Rates The enhancements led to a 40% increase in training completion rates among employees, indicating that the new UX effectively motivated users to engage with the training materials.
Efficient Management for HR The new system provided HR with better tracking and reporting capabilities, allowing for more effective monitoring of employee training progress and compliance.
Positive Feedback from Leadership Leadership at Sony Pictures praised the improvements, noting that the user-friendly design and enhanced functionality aligned with the company’s commitment to employee development.
