Problem statement
Many existing online shopping websites suffer from cluttered designs, ineffective browsing systems, and complicated checkout processes, leading to a subpar user experience.
Goal
Our goal is to enhance user-friendliness, Blossom Es aims to create a website that ensures clear navigation and facilitates a speedy checkout process.
Process
Once I comprehended the company's requirements and desires, I designed a website using the Blossom Es problem-solving frameworks. I produced a low-fidelity prototype and conducted user testing with 5 participants, integrating their feedback to improve the design. As a result, we achieved an 80% satisfaction rate. Subsequently, I created a high-fidelity prototype.
User research
Usability study (parameter)
STUDY TYPE - Unmoderated usability study
LOCATION - Ghana, remote
PARTICIPANTS - 5
TIME LENGTH - 20 TO 30 minutes
Usability Findings
Cart - Once at the checkout screen, users didn’t have a way to edit the quantity of items in the cart.
Account - During the checkout process, there wasn’t a clear way for users to log in to their account to pre-fill previous billing and shipping info.
Checkout - Users weren’t able to easily copy the shipping address information into the billing info field.
Design major iterations
After receiving feedback from usability testing sessions, I made three significant modifications to improve the Blossom Es website, by carefully considering user comments and suggestions, my aim was to enhance the user experience by creating a product that is intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable to interact with. I prioritised implementing the feedback to ensure the app is easy to understand and use effectively.
Accessibility Consideration
I used headings with different sized text for clear visual hierarchy
I used landmarks to help users navigate the site, including users who rely on assistive technologies
I designed the site with alt text available on each page for smooth screen reader access
Impact
Our target users shared that the design was intuitive to navigate through, more engaging with the images, and demonstrated a clear visual hierarchy.
What i learned
I learned that even a small design change can have a huge impact on the user experience. The most important takeaway for me is to always focus on the real needs of the user when coming up with design ideas and solutions.
Let’s make something together, say hi.
