Project Overview

This project explores the design of a mobile travel application that combines flight booking with memory keeping, allowing travelers not only to plan trips but also to capture and revisit their experiences. While many travel apps focus primarily on booking flights, they rarely help users preserve the moments that make those journeys meaningful.
The goal of this project was to design a product that bridges that gap—enabling users to search and book flights, document their trips through photos and notes, and collect digital travel stamps from destinations they visit. By blending utility with storytelling, the app transforms travel from a purely transactional activity into a more personal and memorable experience.
Through thoughtful UX design, the product aims to make trip planning simple while encouraging users to record memories, build a personal travel journal, and visualize their travel history over time.
The challenge was to design a product that connects travel planning with memory preservation, allowing users to book flights while also documenting and celebrating their journeys in a meaningful way.

DESIGN PROCESS

The design process followed a structured approach focused on understanding users and refining the experience.
Problem Exploration: Initial research focused on understanding how existing travel products prioritize bookings but rarely support post-trip engagement.
Experience Definition: The core idea became clear: combine a flight booking tool with a travel memory journal.
Feature Prioritization: Key features were selected based on their ability to balance utility and emotional engagement.
UX Design: User flows, onboarding, and navigation were designed to keep the experience simple while encouraging memory capture.
Visual Design: The interface was designed with a calm travel-inspired color palette, clean typography, and friendly illustrations to reinforce the sense of exploration.

HOME SCREEN

The home screen acts as the main entry point for planning and managing trips. Users can quickly search for flights by selecting their route, travel date, passenger count, and trip type (one-way or round trip).
Below the search section, the Upcoming Flights card allows users to view important details about their next trip at a glance. The Discount Flights section highlights promotional fares and deals, helping users discover affordable travel options.
At the bottom, the navigation bar provides quick access to other key areas of the app, including Memories for recording travel experiences and Profile for managing account settings.

MEMORIES SCREEN

The Memories screen allows users to capture and revisit moments from their trips. Travelers can create journal-style entries by adding notes, photos, and trip details, turning each journey into a personal travel story.
Memories are displayed as cards, showing the trip route, title, date, and a preview of the content, making it easy for users to browse through past experiences. Users can switch between personal memories and shared memories to view their own entries or those shared by others.
A floating action button enables users to quickly add a new memory, encouraging them to document their experiences while traveling or after their trip.

STAMP COLLECTION

The Stamp Collection screen visualizes a traveler’s journey by displaying the destinations they have visited. It provides a quick summary of total flights taken and countries visited, giving users a clear overview of their travel activity.
Below the summary, countries are displayed as collectible stamp-style cards, each showing how many times the user has visited that destination. This creates a sense of progression and encourages users to continue exploring new places.
Overall, the screen transforms travel history into a visual and rewarding collection, making it easy for users to track and celebrate their journeys.

PROFILE SCREEN

The Profile screen allows users to manage their personal information and access important account features. At the top, users can view their profile details and update them through the Edit Profile option.
Below this, quick links provide access to key sections such as Stamp Collection, Saved Trips, and My Bookings, making it easy to manage travel activities in one place.
The screen also includes preferences and support options, allowing users to control notifications, access help resources, review legal information, or securely log out of their account.

BOOKING FLOW

The Viewing Details page shows details of the ticket you’d want to book for, including possible layovers & time of arrival. It also displays a clear CTA for users to proceed with their purchase. The Booking Slider shows a list of safest sites to get tickets based on our data, with the best deals/offers appearing first.

UX Trade-Offs

Designing a product that combines planning and storytelling required balancing several trade-offs.
Simplicity vs Feature Depth Adding too many journaling features could make the product feel complex, so memory recording was intentionally kept lightweight.
Booking Focus vs Memory Focus The interface needed to support flight booking efficiently while still highlighting the emotional aspects of travel.
Gamification vs Authenticity The stamp collection system introduces motivation, but it was designed to feel subtle and meaningful rather than overly gamified.

OUTCOME

The final concept demonstrates how travel products can move beyond transactional booking tools and become platforms for storytelling and personal reflection.
By integrating flight booking, trip memories, and collectible travel stamps, the app creates an experience where users can not only plan trips but also relive the moments that made those journeys special.
