Problem
The vendor directory was not set up properly to index vendors, thus...
The existing vendor directory was largely unusable and a nuisance to use
The directory did not effectively boost any of VendorPM's vendor pages through Google engine searches, and listing site ratings were low
Overview
VendorPM is a Toronto-based startup focused on simplifying the contracting process for property managers and vendors with vendor management, sourcing, procurement, and compliance.
My task was to lead a high-value project and reformat the vendor directory in order to increase Google rankings with the use of SEO and exploit crawlers.
Solution
In order to boost our vendor directory, we plan to…
Optimize loading with… only necessary SEO content
Optimize usage of space by… reformatting the page layout and elements
Hypothetical scenario
User googles [Company X] and their VendorPM’s profile appears on the top of the list
Understanding the Problem
Execution
Phase 1: Structure breakdown by stripping all unnecessary content
Phase 2: Implementation & Re-iterate

Who's doing it right?
To serve as the foundation of our product explorations, we looked towards Digital Main Street, which is a platform dedicated to providing small businesses with resources to thrive. Digital Main Street does a great job of organizing its vendor directory page — a comprehensible information hierarchy that can lay out hundreds of requisite vendor profiles without cognitively overloading users or becoming non-functional.
Designs
Provided below are screenshots of the design process and iterations of the vendor directory. Unfortunately image quality is low as these were provided after my internship.
