Redesigning a responsive website for a live cricket website.

The Client

CREX is a comprehensive cricket app that offers live scores, commentary, and fantasy analysis for a wide range of tournaments and leagues. Whether you're following international tours or domestic leagues like the Indian Premier League or T20 World Cup, CREX has you covered. With unique and engaging features, it's the best one-stop app for all things cricket. Follow live scores for all tours and leagues, and stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the cricket world.

Why Redesign?

At CREX, we believe that the user experience is of utmost importance. When we evaluated the website, we found that it did not align with the brand's identity and did not provide the same seamless experience as their highly popular mobile app, which has over 1 crore downloads. As a result, we decided to undertake a redesign of the website to improve the user experience and better align the website with our brand values and aesthetic. We wanted the website to be just as user-friendly and feature-rich as our mobile app, and to provide a consistent brand experience across all platforms. Through the redesign process, we focused on making it easy for users to access key features and information, and on creating a design that resonated with our target audience. Ultimately, the goal of the redesign was to create a website that our users would find valuable, engaging, and enjoyable to use.

My Role

As the sole product designer leading the CREX website redesign project, I spearheaded the entire design process from inception to implementation. This encompassed comprehensive user research to grasp the needs and expectations of our target audience, defining a coherent design direction, and establishing a visual language that resonated with our brand identity.
Collaborating closely with the development team, I ensured the translation of design concepts into high-fidelity mockups and prototypes, guaranteeing an intuitive and seamless user experience across both desktop and mobile platforms.
Key Achievements:
Comprehensive Redesign: The website redesign aimed to deliver a feature-rich and responsive experience that mirrored the functionality of our app.
User-Centric Approach: The design was informed by user research, prioritizing features and content based on user preferences and behavior.
Introduction of Light Mode: Responding to user feedback, we introduced a light mode option, which was well-received and contributed to improved user satisfaction.
Expanded Content: The redesigned website included essential pages such as Match, Series, Player Profile, Stats Corner, Rankings, Fixtures, and Home, catering to diverse user needs and interests.
Enhanced Accessibility: Both light and dark themes were optimized for desktop and mobile resolutions, ensuring accessibility across various devices.
Alignment with Brand Identity: Every design decision was aligned with CREX's brand identity, maintaining consistency and reinforcing brand recognition.
By prioritizing user needs, implementing intuitive design solutions, and aligning with CREX's brand identity, the redesigned website succeeded in delivering an optimal user experience and positioning CREX as a leading platform for cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

The Outcome

Global Expansion: Played a pivotal role in expanding CREX's reach to 25+ countries, capturing 18% of the market in Asia-Pacific, and engaging over 300 million cricket enthusiasts, establishing CREX as a premier global cricket updates platform.
Data-Driven Design: Utilized data analytics to guide design decisions, resulting in an all-time retention rate of 52% and achieving 6 million daily active users (DAUs), showcasing the effectiveness of data-driven design strategies in enhancing user experience and engagement.
Record-Breaking Performance: During the World Cup and IPL 2023, witnessed record-breaking stats with 7.3 million DAUs during the finals, surpassing the previous high of 6.6 million during IPL 2023, indicating the platform's significant impact and popularity during major cricket events.
App Store Success: Ranked as one of the top 5 trending apps on the Google Play Store with a remarkable 51% conversion rate, highlighting the platform's strong presence and appeal among users.
Increased Visibility: 'CREX' keyword searched 4,596,778 times on Google, marking a substantial 183% increase and solidifying its position as a top sports category keyword, contributing to enhanced brand visibility and recognition.
User Acquisition and Engagement: Acquired over 4 million users during the World Cup, including 2.5 million first-time users, demonstrating the platform's ability to attract and retain a significant user base. Achieved a notable 95% increase in average user engagement time compared to IPL 2023, indicating higher user satisfaction and interaction levels.
