Just Good Soil is a US regenerative gardening supplement brand. Justin and Chris came to me with six products, an upcoming website relaunch and product photography that wasn't working for the new site.
I rebuilt the entire product range in 3D and created the final website imagery in one week.
The existing product photography wasn't giving the new website the consistency the range needed. With six products across three different form factors and a relaunch already scheduled, there was very little room to rebuild the imagery through another shoot.
Rather than trying to work around the existing photography, I decided to rebuild the entire range in 3D.
THE DECISION
The goal wasn't to recreate the photography. It was to give the range a consistent visual language.
I rebuilt all six products from scratch in Blender using the supplied label artwork.
Working in 3D gave me control over the product forms, camera angles, lighting and environments from the beginning. It also meant the same products could be used across different compositions without having to return to a studio.
The focus wasn't on making six individual renders. It was on building a consistent set of product assets that could work together across the website.
MATERIALS
It lives or dies on whether the materials read as real.
Aluminium, kraft board and coated card all respond differently to light, so each material needed its own treatment.
The aluminium needed controlled reflections to keep the surface dimensional. The paper-based products needed softer light and subtle surface variation to retain their physical character.
The products were modelled, textured and lit individually before being brought into the final compositions.
COMPOSITION
A hero banner has two jobs and only one of them is the product.
The final direction places the products directly into a soil mound, giving the imagery a physical connection to what Just Good Soil makes.
The warm, neutral environment keeps the composition grounded while leaving clear space for the website messaging.
The products were positioned deliberately toward one side of the frame so the copy could change without needing to rebuild the scene.
Because the imagery was built in 3D, the composition could be designed around the website rather than adapted from a fixed photograph.

WHAT SHIPPED
Six product renders, multiple angles and backgrounds
Bundle and full-kit compositions

Reusable 3D product asset library
The same six products now exist as a flexible visual system rather than a collection of individual photographs.
The assets can be recomposed for different placements, campaigns and product combinations without starting the imagery from scratch.
LIVE
The final imagery is now live across the Just Good Soil website.
