Futuristic Design of medical innovation in oxygen therapy

Based on data obtained during the research, in Italy there are lacks in home treatment, which is demonstrated to improve the quality of life of patients and to reduce costs. Moreover interoperability, which is the capacity of different devices to communicate with the others and to integrate all data, is missing because of different software and hardware involved. Thanks to interviews, it turned out that this feature is essential for a good treatment because it gives a global vision of patients' health to the doctors.

My goals

The aim of this project was to redesign the devices involved into the oxygen therapy treatment, actually used in the sanitary system. Thanks to new technologies as 5G, devices can communicate remotely, which is an important factor in monitoring home treatment. Moreover, it has been essential to implement interoperability and granting comfort to the patients.
Basing on these evidences I designed two products, which will replace actual devices in the treatment process.

My solutions

A monitor composed by three modules, whose contents can be customized by the medical equipe following the most useful data for treating the patients. This device will be integrated in the actual valve used in oxygen therapy.
Data is gathered using two wearable devices. At the hospital, a ring worn by the patients communicates to the monitors heartbeat, body temperature and oxygen saturation. Everything wireless, without the limits of a cable.
At home, people can wear a smartwatch which collects data and send it to the hospital, for a better and continuos monitoring.
These products can improve patients' treatment because they offer a global vision of people's condition. Moreover, homecare can be offered, just introducing the usage of a smartwatch, which communicates continuously clinical parameters to the hospital, where they can monitor the health of the person.
