About the Project

CNC Machinist Calculator Ultra is an advanced mobile application designed for machinists, CNC programmers, engineers, and manufacturing professionals. The app brings together 83 comprehensive machining tools, including feeds and speeds calculators, thread data, drilling and tapping tools, G-code references, GD&T utilities, material calculations, and CNC program generators.
The goal was to create a practical, professional, and easy-to-navigate experience that allows users to quickly access complex machining calculations and technical references directly from their mobile device.

🚧 The Challenge

The app contains a large number of highly specialized tools and technical features, which creates a significant UX challenge. The interface needed to:
Organize 83+ machining tools without overwhelming users
Make complex technical calculations quick and easy to access
Present detailed machining data in a clear and readable format
Support different workflows for machinists, programmers, and engineers
Provide quick access to frequently used references such as G-code, M-code, GD&T, thread data, and drill charts
Maintain usability across different mobile screen sizes
Make advanced features feel accessible while retaining a professional engineering-focused experience

✍️ My Approach

I focused on creating a structured, utility-first mobile experience where users can quickly find the exact calculator, reference, or machining tool they need.
Designed a clear information architecture to organize the extensive collection of machining tools into logical categories.
Created intuitive interfaces for calculators involving feeds & speeds, drilling, tapping, threading, milling, turning, reaming, and other CNC operations.
Prioritized readability and data hierarchy so technical values, inputs, outputs, and recommendations are easy to scan.
Designed workflows that minimize unnecessary steps when performing calculations in a real-world shop environment.
Structured reference-heavy features such as G-code/M-code, GD&T, thread charts, ISO fits, and material data for fast access.
Considered the needs of experienced machinists while keeping the interface approachable for users learning or expanding their CNC knowledge.
Designed the experience around speed, accuracy, and productivity, helping users spend less time searching through reference material and more time getting work done.
Incorporated advanced functionality such as CNC program generators, machining calculators, material references, and the AI-powered Machinist Assistant into a cohesive product experience.

The final product delivers a powerful all-in-one machining toolkit that brings 83 specialized tools into a single mobile experience.
The app provides machinists and CNC professionals with fast access to calculations, technical references, program generators, and productivity tools — reducing the need to switch between multiple reference sources while working.
With features covering everything from feeds and speeds to thread calculations, GD&T, G-code, material weights, hardness conversions, and CNC programming, CNC Machinist Calculator Ultra positions itself as a comprehensive digital companion for modern machining workflows.
The app currently has 50K+ downloads on Google Play and continues to receive updates and new functionality based on user feedback.
