Summary: Fuel Cell Energy manufactures Fuel Cells as an alternate energy source. Gathering all the data needed to make certain decisions was a manual process that required logging into various systems. This was time-consuming taking from one to almost three weeks. It was desirable to use a decision-making system instead where all the data needed is readily accessible. 

 Actions:

Constructed a data warehouse to contain all the data needed.

Installed and configured Cognos Reporting to allow users to create custom reports along with predefined reports.

Accomplishments:

All the data needed to make certain decisions are made available in minutes rather than weeks.

Users now had the ability to create their own reports for their needs.

Productivity and efficiency improved significantly.

The time needed to make critical decisions was significantly reduced from 3 weeks to less than 5 minutes.
