The primary goal was to create a modern portfolio that stands out while offering maximum flexibility to its users.

We aimed to design a bento-style layout that is modular, allowing users to fully customize and rearrange content blocks, ensuring their portfolios remain fresh and dynamic.  ‍

Another key goal was to build a template that integrates seamlessly with Webflow’s CMS, making content management effortless without requiring any coding knowledge. One of the key challenges was maintaining the balance between a bold visual style and a user-friendly interface that feels smooth and intuitive.

Modular has to reflect modern design trends, particularly dark mode and minimalist aesthetics, while ensuring enough visual flexibility for a range of creative professionals—from designers to writers, agencies to freelancers. We wanted the template to feel equally suited for personal or professional projects.

During the creation of Modular, we discovered just how effective a bento-style layout can be in a portfolio setting. Early feedback from users highlighted that the unique structure—paired with the striking dark mode design—made their content feel fresh and interactive. Many users expressed how the customizable nature of the bento cards allowed them to reimagine their portfolios and present their work in ways they hadn’t thought possible.
