The Van Aken District is a vibrant neighborhood in Shaker Heights, Ohio, named after William J. Van Aken, the city's first mayor. The district was developed in the early 1900s by the Van Sweringen brothers, who envisioned Shaker Heights as a new, modern suburb of Cleveland.
