Stacia Jacobson is a senior copywriter whose work includes Metro by T-Mobile, Avocados From Mexico, Mazda and Subaru. Her best work lived in agency files, and she wanted it in one place that creative directors and hiring teams could browse, on a site she could keep up herself. A portfolio like hers has two kinds of visitor: a recruiter who skims thirty pieces in two minutes, and someone sent a link to one campaign who needs it to stand on its own. The site serves both. See it at staciajacobson.com.

"Andres was so easy to work with and honestly made magic happen with every request. He was super responsive and very easy to communicate as well. He met the deadline 3 days early!" Stacia Jacobson, on Contra

Any piece in two clicks

All 34 pieces sit in one grid on the Work page, filtered by brand or by format: pick Metro by T-Mobile and nine pieces remain, pick Print and the rest fall away. She had already chosen her WordPress theme, so I built on it rather than around it.

The gist without leaving the grid

Stacia wanted visitors to get a piece's challenge and solution without leaving the grid. The quick look is built on the browser's native <dialog> element, which handles keyboard focus, the Escape key and the page behind it on its own, and the full piece is one click further.

Every piece stands on its own

Each piece has its own page with the challenge, the solution and the work itself, so a single campaign can be indexed by search engines and sent as a link. Every file is hosted on her site, because shared-drive links expire, and a sample that won't load in front of a recruiter is the one thing a portfolio can't afford.

Hers to run

A recorded walkthrough shows her how to add a new piece, fix a typo and edit any page without code, and a new piece appears on the Work page by itself. After every build I checked the version of each page that visitors are actually served, so what she sees in the editor is what a recruiter sees.
