In 2025, budget cuts strained services across the City of Loveland, Colorado, and the public library shortened its hours and discontinued several services, computer classes among them. With funding from the Friends of the Library, the library brought technology education back as a series of public tech talks, and partnered with Red Mage on one about artificial intelligence. "AI Isn't Magic" is a six-part series that explains generative AI to anyone who walks in, without the hype and without the jargon. I designed the series and gave the first two sessions, to rooms of 60 to 70 people.

"With an audience of almost sixty people with a wide range of tech knowledge he made the presentation accessible to all. Audience comments to the first lecture have been extremely positive." Rachel Etherington, Assistant Technology Librarian, Loveland Public Library

Need AI explained to a room that isn't technical? I design talks and workshops for libraries, nonprofits and teams, so people leave able to use the tools and judge them. Book a call at cal.com/andres-sepulveda-morales or email andres@redmage.cc.

Leaving with a working picture of AI

Session 1, "How Generative AI Actually Works", on 12 February 2026, gave people a mental model they can carry home: an AI chatbot predicts the next likely word rather than looking up facts, what it knows comes from the text it was trained on, and that is why it can sound sure and still be wrong. Afterwards, attendees could keep exploring on an interactive site I built for the series, and the slides stay public.

Then putting it to use

Session 2, "The Essential AI Toolkit", on 9 April 2026, which I presented with Crys Black of Crys Black Consulting, moved from understanding to practice: which AI tools are safe to use at home and at work, how to prompt them for drafting, summarizing and brainstorming, and how to keep personal data out of them. The slides are public too.

A series that keeps going

The series was planned in two parts: foundational literacy for beginners, then the "so what?" of AI, its ethics, environmental cost, creativity and accessibility. From the start, the library and I agreed that on-site sessions could pass to a qualified local expert. When I moved to Barcelona, Crys shared Session 2 with me and has led the series from there. It's her show now, and her sessions carry on at the library.

Want a talk your audience will actually use? Tell me who's in the room and what they're worried about. I'll build the session around that. Book a call at cal.com/andres-sepulveda-morales or email andres@redmage.cc.
