Musea - Shop from renowned museums and save artists and art pieces to your own collection

Museum bookshops often prioritize merchandise related to the most popular artworks, creating cluttered displays that make it difficult for visitors to find items connected to specific pieces they personally enjoyed. This project proposes a more personalized shopping experience by introducing QR codes next to artworks that link to a digital catalog of related products. Visitors can scan the code to browse items, save their favorites, and create a personal list throughout their visit, allowing them to easily purchase the selected products at the museum bookshop or have them delivered to their home.

Problem

Museum bookshops are usually cluttered with items connected to the “most popular” art items, making it harder for those who would like to shop items for an specific art object

Solution

A registered catalogue of items related to an art object can be scanned via QR Code, allowing the museum visitor to list his favorites and purchase at the bookshop or have them delivered at home

User Scenarios

The main purpose for the app is to help museum visitors to find items related to an specific item at the bookshop of the museum. However, trying not to be a “install-reinstall” app, a few other functions were added.
1. During a visit at a particular museum, the user gets interested in a particular item (painting, sculpture, etc)
2. With the help of the Musea app the user scans the QR Code positioned next to the art object and the app shows a list of products related to that item (books, art posters, accessories, etc)
4. Picking up the chosen item can be done immediately at the bookshop (if available) or delivered at home

Understanding Our Users

Research shows that the ideal user for this product is a passionate art and museum enthusiast with a keen interest in exploring and collecting art-related items. Someone who maintains an extensive collection of art books and enjoys discovering unique accessories and home décor at bookshops, particularly those linked to art and museums.

Wireframing with Balsamiq AI

To define the initial user flow and screen structure, I used Balsamiq, one of my preferred tools for rapid wireframing. Its low-fidelity approach makes it ideal for quickly exploring layout ideas without getting distracted by visual details.
Balsamiq’s built-in AI feature also helped accelerate the process. Using a few targeted prompts, I generated early wireframe concepts for a mobile app designed for art enthusiasts. The app allows users to explore detailed information about artists, discover related merchandise available in the museum store, and browse dedicated product pages.
Starting from these AI-generated layouts, I refined the structure to better match the intended user journey and improve content hierarchy. After a short iteration process, I arrived at a set of wireframes that clearly defined the core screens and navigation for the app.
