Designing a sustainable phone accessories brand

Graceeuh is my self-initiated brand, born in 2020 during the COVID era when phone accessories with cords began to trend.
While these products were becoming popular, I couldn’t find an alternative that aligned with my values: sustainable, ethical, and inclusive. So, I decided to create my own.
Graceeuh specializes in eco-friendly corded phone cases designed not just as practical accessories, but as fashion statements carrying strong values of feminism, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility.

Problem

Phone accessories are often made from polluting plastics, wrapped in wasteful packaging, and marketed without much thought for inclusivity or ethical design.
At the same time, many young women wanted a product that was both stylish and functional, something that would free their hands while staying true to their lifestyle and values.

Insight

Carrying your phone should feel liberating, not limiting. Graceeuh was my way of rethinking the “phone case” as more than just protection: it became a wearable object, a piece of everyday fashion, and a tool for self-expression.

Solution

Graceeuh offers biodegradable corded phone cases made from wheat straw and corn starch, with packaging crafted from corn starch food-grade pouches that can be reused.
The brand identity is built around feminist-inspired illustrations, highlighting themes of sisterhood, diversity, and empowerment.
The product combines style and functionality:
Adjustable cord → hands-free use, prevents drops and theft
Eco-materials → biodegradable, non-toxic, and compostable
Inclusive aesthetics → playful, bold, feminist visual storytelling
Practical design → lightweight, resistant, screen-protective

Design Process

I handled every step of the project:
Ideation & supplier research → sourcing sustainable materials and ethical production
Product design → biodegradable cases and reusable packaging
Visual identity → original illustrations and feminist-inspired branding
E-commerce & UX/UI → design and development of the online shop
Marketing & storytelling → photography, video campaigns, and social media strategy
Distribution → online store, feminist festivals, pop-up shops, and retail collaborations

Impact

Graceeuh was more than a product, it became a statement. Customers loved not only the design and practicality, but also the values behind it. The project received strong positive feedback in festivals, pop-up shops, and online communities.
The main limitation was budget-related: as a small business, I could only produce cases for iPhone models, which reduced accessibility for Android users.
Despite this, Graceeuh proved that fashion accessories can be ethical, inclusive, and joyful without compromising on style.

Key Takeaway

Graceeuh taught me how to run a creative project from A to Z: from sustainable product design to branding, UX/UI, illustration, and marketing. It was a successful entrepreneurial experiment that allowed me to merge my creative skills with my values… designing not just a product, but a meaningful experience.
