Introduction and Context

“Guide Your Mind” is a collaborative endeavor between psychiatrist Elie Uzan, psychologist Jeanne Dannel, and a multidisciplinary team. This board game is specifically designed for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). With over 50 test games played, the game is currently undergoing research in two psychiatric departments at CHU Lille.

Game Development

Card Design

Card Design
Each card is a user-centered experience capsule designed to engage, educate, and evoke emotion. The game’s fantastical universe allows players to immerse themselves in a near-cinematic experience.
Game Development

“Choice Cards”: Your destiny is in your hands. These cards place the player before emotionally poignant decisions.
“Challenge Cards”: Growth comes from effort. These cards pose stimulating challenges focused on emotional management.
“Mastery Cards”: Illuminate the darkness. A treasure trove of information about BPD, providing keys to understanding and managing it.
“Support Cards”: You’re not alone. These cards provide emotional and strategic support during the game.

Board Design

Board Design
The board is more than just a backdrop; it is the world in which players operate. Its design facilitates fluid navigation among cards, creating an immersive experience.

Game Notebook Design

Game Notebook Design
The game notebook is a testament to the power of iterative design. It has undergone numerous revisions to become an incredibly intuitive guide, effortlessly leading players through the game’s complex yet rewarding structure.

Website Development

Website Development
Targeted mainly at a professional audience — psychiatrists, psychologists, clinics, and hospitals — the website is currently under construction and serves as a promotional platform. The black and white aesthetic choices accentuate the visual elements of the game, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on the substance rather than the style.

Testing and Iterations

After more than 50 tests, the game has been refined multiple times based on feedback, creating an ever more user-centered experience.

Success Metrics

- High engagement rate - Measurable improvements in emotional skills - Favorable reception from healthcare professionals

Conclusion and Future Developments

With two more stories under development, “Guide Your Mind” aspires to broaden its universe and its impact. The game also plans to participate in various events and competitions in 2023.
Every element of “Guide Your Mind” is meticulously calibrated to deliver an exceptional experience, both in its fantastical universe and its intuitive design. This ongoing project has already shown incredible potential to revolutionize how we approach BPD in a clinical setting and beyond.
