Created multiple high-impact trailers and screenshots, supporting major updates and improving how the game is presented on iOS, Android, and social platforms.
Game: To The Trenches
Genre: Strategy, war, pixel-art
Client: Independent game studio
Collaboration type: Long-term creative partner
Assets created across multiple projects:
Multiple cinematic gameplay trailers
Update trailers for major releases
App Store & Google Play previews
Store screenshots and poster-style assets
Social-ready vertical versions
This project started with a single trailer request and grew into a long-term collaboration covering both video and store creatives.
The situation
The creator of To The Trenches first reached out after releasing the game and looking for a trailer that could showcase its intensity, atmosphere, and gameplay systems.
At that time, the game already had strong foundations, but needed:
A trailer that could properly represent the experience
Store assets that matched the quality of the game
Creative support for future updates
Over time, as the game continued to grow and ship major features, the need shifted from a one-time trailer into ongoing creative support.
The goals
Across our projects, the goals were consistent:
Create trailers that feel intense, emotional, and cinematic
Clearly show gameplay systems and large updates
Support major releases with fresh creatives
Optimize all assets for App Store, Google Play, and social platforms
Build a visual identity that evolves with the game
Each new update required a new angle, new structure, and new pacing, not just a reskin of the previous trailer.
My creative approach
Every trailer started with understanding what changed in the game.
Before editing, I:
Played new builds
Listed the biggest new features
Identified what would excite both new and existing players
Designed a flow that balanced atmosphere, clarity, and progression
For To The Trenches, the focus was on:
The chaos and scale of battle
New mechanics like factions, vehicles, planes, tanks, and abilities
Emotional pacing supported by music and sound design
Real gameplay moments that communicate depth
Rather than just showing clips, each trailer was structured like a short experience:
Slow tension build-up
Escalation of action
Feature highlights
Strong ending beat
For store assets and screenshots, the focus shifted to:
Readability on small screens
Clear feature communication
Consistent visual language
Strong first impressions
All creatives were built around real gameplay capture, not mockups.
Deliverables
Across multiple orders, I delivered:
Trailers & videos
Main game trailers
Major update trailers
App preview videos
Extended cinematic versions
Vertical and square versions for social platforms
All videos were optimized into multiple formats, including:
1920×1080
1920×886
1600×1200
1080×1920
1080×1350
Store creatives
Screenshot sets for iOS and Android
Poster-style feature assets
Store-ready exports for different device requirements
Editable source files for future use
This allowed the studio to consistently update both their store presence and promotional content as the game evolved.
Challenges and collaboration
Because this was a live game with frequent updates, the collaboration involved:
Working with unfinished and changing builds
Recording gameplay from test versions
Adjusting creative direction based on new features
Solving technical limitations in test environments
Iterating closely with the developer
The process was highly collaborative, with frequent feedback loops, fast fixes, and continuous improvement from one trailer to the next.
Outcome
The collaboration turned into a long-term creative partnership.
The developer:
Returned for multiple trailers and store updates
Trusted me with their most important update releases
Expanded the work from trailers into screenshots and store visuals
Referred to the work as some of the best trailers created for the game
Each project built on the previous one, improving quality, pacing, and clarity.
