Redesigning an admin panel for an international payments platform

Role: UX Designer
Timeline: 2 Weeks
Responsibilities: UX Research, UI Design, Dev Handoff
Outcome: Redesigned the admin panel end-to-end, cut table columns by 40% through smarter data grouping

Context

PKI is an international payments platform, close in spirit to Wise, built around moving money across borders simply The customer app already existed. My job was the other half of the product, the admin panel, the side that keeps the whole system running but nobody outside the company ever sees.

The Problem

Before touching any screens, I spent time in Wise's actual product, understanding how a mature player in this exact space handles complexity like multi-currency accounts, verification, and transaction states Admin panels live and die by their tables. PKI's admin needed to manage users, transactions, and verification - all data-dense All needing to be scanned fast by someone doing this fifty times a day. That became the real design problem

Design Highlights

Built the dashboard around cards and a user management table first, to establish what kind of components the rest of the panel would need
Designed unique row components for every table type, each carrying 5 to 7 columns of live data
Added a user ledger modal and a user delete modal, so critical actions didn't need a full page navigation
Reduced table columns by 40%, clubbing raw data with its status or action instead of giving each its own column
Refined the full admin flow through a few iteration rounds with the dev team before handoff

Impact

Table columns reduced by 40% without losing any information density
Full admin panel designed and handed off in 2 weeks
Reusable row and table components built for future admin screens
Dev handoff refined through direct iteration with the engineering team

Takeaway

Fintech flows carry a lot of data, and an admin screen someone opens dozens of times a day can't afford to fight them every single time I identified the components getting used the most and focused there, making them more usable and useful while cutting the noise around them.
