Vintage Electronics Store - Designing a Nostalgic Marketplace & Auction Experience
Project Summary
V.E.S (Vintage Electronics Store) is a concept blending nostalgia with modern usability, giving vintage tech lovers a dedicated place to discover, buy, and auction old gadgets online and in-store. Inspired by a Relume Design League challenge, I explored how to balance vintage charm with clear, conversion-friendly flows.
The Challenge
Finding vintage electronics is hard — and existing sites felt outdated, cluttered, or untrustworthy. There was also no fun way to bid on rare tech finds, limiting engagement.
The Solution
Designed a hero section that instantly evokes nostalgia (vintage TV as the focal point)
Crafted a clean, vintage themed with period-accurate typography
Added a clear “Explore Collection” CTA and auction system for more interaction
Built storytelling sections: Our Legacy, Customer Reviews styled like a vintage newspaper
Highlighted a seller flow, turning visitors into sellers with a simple 3-step guide
Integrated physical store info for in-person browsing
Impact
Clearer story: visitors instantly know what V.E.S stands for
Higher engagement potential via an auction system
Seamless blend of online convenience + offline nostalgia
A polished Figma concept that could scale into a full marketplace MVP
📌 What I Learned
Good storytelling is timeless. Combining a clear value proposition with mood-driven design makes niche products feel special and trustworthy. Next time, I’d run user interviews to validate assumptions even faster.
