The Garrison School

Located about 50 miles from NYC, The Garrison School is a unique, one-building school district that values its historical significance and local culture. With the majestic Hudson River nearby and a 181-acre historic forest on school grounds they place an emphasis on learning that extends beyond the classroom walls.
I had the pleasure of working on a full visual rebrand with the advisors for the school. This unique and exciting approach to learning had to be apparent in the new logo. The mark embodies a landscape known well to the community – showing the Hudson River nestled between two mountains.
A river bank that resembles a leaf is located in the lower right corner of the mark, nodding to the foundation of outdoor learning. Two birds are seen in the sky which not only ties together the landscape but also symbolizes positivity and growth.
The brand identity features a youthful color palette that feels right at home in the outdoor-centered curriculum. It's bold and playful without being overly juvenile. I chose two main typefaces – Lexend Deca and Fraunces – to carry that playful personality into the typography. The bold and clean characters in Legend Deca balance out the softer ones found in Fraunces.
Following the brand identity for the school, I also had the opportunity to reimagine the look for the school's athletics department. This was a fun challenge to create something that felt aligned with the new brand while framing a new and dynamic personality all on its own.
Working with Cameron was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. His attention to detail in all aspects of the process was so impressive. Cameron provided us with several concepts and helped guide us through many iterations until we landed on something that our community is truly proud of.
