Case Study: CampMap Website Redesign

Project Overview

Client: CampMap (camp mapping and booking platform) My Role: Lead Product & Website Designer Objective: Redesign CampMap’s website to present a more professional and engaging brand tone, while enhancing clarity, structure, and user interaction.

Problem / Challenge

CampMap had a solid offering but lacked a polished, professional online presence. Their website didn’t effectively communicate credibility, and the page structure felt unclear to new visitors. The goal was to create a website that felt reliable, inviting, and organized, and that showcased CampMap’s value in an interesting, trustworthy tone.

My Process

1. Discovery & Strategy I kickstarted with discovery sessions that included stakeholders and internal team members. We:
Identified the core pages needed on the site (e.g., home, features, how it works, about, contact, FAQs).
Defined clear goals for each page—what action should the visitor take, what information was most important.
Mapped a logical structure and navigation hierarchy before jumping into design.
2. Prototyping & Validation
Created low-fidelity wireframes to explore layout, information hierarchy, and interaction flows.
Shared these wireframes with key stakeholders to validate assumptions about page structure, content layout, and user priorities. Feedback was gathered and iterations were made before moving into visual design.
3. UX & UI Design
Finalized UX: refined flows, ensured clear calls-to-action, and optimized content placement for readability and persuasion.
Crafted a clean, professional UI: selected a modern color palette, refined typography, and created a visual style that conveyed trust and engagement.
Ensured consistent branding elements, polished imagery, and a tone that felt both professional and approachable.
4. Developer Handoff & Implementation
Prepared complete design deliverables: Hi-fidelity mockups with annotated specs, an asset library (icons, imagery), and details for responsive behaviors.
Conducted handoff sessions with the development team to walk through components, behaviors, and overall vision.
Followed up during implementation to clarify interactions and ensure visual fidelity.

Outcome & Impact

Elevated brand perception: The new site felt more polished and trustworthy, increasing both stakeholder confidence and first-time visitor engagement.
Clearer structure & navigation: Visitors could quickly find key information and take action without confusion or redundant scrolling.
Efficient delivery: The structured process (discovery → prototype → UI → handoff) enabled us to deliver on time and on-brand.

Reflection

This project reinforced the value of early alignment through discovery and low-fi validation. Starting with wireframes helped save time and avoided expensive visual design changes later. I feel proud that the final product showcases CampMap’s strengths while offering a smoother, more compelling experience.
