Pinterest is one of the most effective ways to drive traffic to websites (blog, portfolio, social media, e-commerce).

Over 367 million people on Pinterest every month

They're actively seeking new ideas and looking to connect with creators, like yourself, who will inspire, inform and encourage them to try new things.

It's the perfect platform to experiment with creative, inspirational, and educational content.

I'm testing a Pinterest strategy to grow on this platform, get noticed by an extended audience, and drive more traffic to my blog.

Starting point (July 29th)

Strategy

  • create regularly: I decided to post new pins twice a week, exactly when I publish the latest posts on the blog (Monday and Thursday).
  • Optimize for discovery: catching titles and images, but also keywords in the description box. Fundamental is adding a relatable link to the pin so that people can go from the pin to my website.
  • Organize boards: boards are a crucial ingredient because they let you organize all of your content. First, I made all the boards thinking of the content I would talk about on the blog to cohesive the Pinterest account and the website. Then, I made the covers for each board with my logo.
  • Audience: my target is international, specifically women who can speak English and are 25-34 years old. Pinterest is the perfect place to find this target and drive it to my website.

How it's going (August 23th)

I had 46.9k monthly views (+103%) in one month.

Getting in more detail, these are the analytics with engagement rates and audience details in the last 30 days.

Nowadays, Pinterest is my second source of traffic for my blog. The first one is always direct through SEO.

September 2021 update

After two months, these are my current analytics

I also started creating specific content for Pinterest using the Pin idea, which is excellent for impressions, reach, and engagement.

This strategy makes me create a community inside Pinterest and drive targeted traffic to my blog. Nowadays, Pinterest and direct SEO are my primary source of traffic for the blog.
