Enchanted Journey is a project that inspires players with fairy tales that cross language and nation boundaries; Fairy Tales connect players and provide hope and healing.

The project was created as an art therapy card game and used as a picture card that people can use easily in their imagination to construct the fantasy space of their inner self and the outer natural world with the door. Base illustrative card game and use the element of the Door as a symbolic visual element to explore the scene of connecting phenomena and imaginary space.

I researched background information from books and stories and created relative illustration images from Fairy Tale Stories.

Present the character with different stories, by body gesture or post, to make the user recognise the stories even without the character’s face.

At the same time, bring some charter from Disney stories, which are more well-known than the image in the stories, to raise Empathy with users.

To express the theme of fairy tale fantasy, I use different illustration brushes to create Fantasy Elements and bring those visuals into other stories. Bring fireflies and fairy dust as tiny light spots, and make the illustration with more magical visuals.

Echoing the story’s content, I drew doors with visual elements on each picture card, presenting the connection between the two sides of the card. 

At the same time, use the Door as a medium to construct a fantasy space between the inner self and the outer real world, connecting the story and viewer.

Reading fairy tale stories from Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales, Grimms Märchen, Aesop’s Fables, Charles Perrault/Mother Goose, The Arabian Nights etc., and select stories from different collections to form the content of picture cards. 

Then picked elements in those fairy tales and Fables with higher popularity and reputation and turned those stories into visual elements which I could apply in the card illustrations. 

Regarding the card size, I referred to the current average mobile phone size and changed my card design size to (8cm X 16cm). This site is similar to a mobile phone and can hold in hand, with more space to present illustrations.

On Packaging Design of the Card Game, I picked a Arched rectangle to simulate the visual of the door, the golden door is a tool connecting between the audience and the world of fairy. They can start their Journey to enter the fantasy world, and the key is a way to open the door.
