This Brief is creating a 16-page publication and generating a design using InDesign.

I have visualised and created elements of the editorial design, encompassing layout, essay and character design. In addition, I am working on the whole magazine design and motion about psychoanalysis.

I choose Healing anxiety as my essay theme under the topic of psychoanalysis. Write an essay about How Graphics Heal Anxiety by researching evidence and argument.

The article will discuss how the element can use design to relieve anxiety and thus self-heal. Therefore, I hope that the layout and features of the magazine can be relaxing and release negative emotions.

The visual effects of colour in the creation of the magazine will make readers feel calm, relieved and relaxed. So, I have used brown as the base colour of the design because of the peace of mind in brown. Brown has a lower chroma than other colours. It is also the colour of soil and skin, which is close to nature. It is visually mild and has a relaxing feeling.

To create the feeling of a girl going through a journey in the book, I used a dotted line to run through the overall design and then to show the travel footprint left by the character after the flight. I wanted to express the sense of freedom of the journey. I used colour blocks to simulate the traces left during the trip and, simultaneously, the texture of watercolour brushstrokes to bring soft colours to the picture.

Through the article and design, people can feel relaxed and cater to the theme of healing anxiety. The essay will bring readers on a journey of self-recognition, with the help of the article, to understand their own heart or through the different media written in the essay to help people troubled by anxiety. Colours and textures will make the design feel relaxed and concise. At the same time, characters are created as an element throughout the procedure.

Regarding layout design, try to use a lower-density typesetting method to give readers a leisurely and quiet feeling and facilitate information reading.

I will compare the two designs in this article and analyse how their visual elements relieve anxiety. I will also search for another angle to show the opinions of different stakeholders. Overall, I hope the design can help readers understand themselves, using editorial design as a window to open their minds and encourage them to pay more attention to the importance of mental health.
