The current platform lacks a user-friendly post-login page, hindering real-time information access, asset management, and operational efficiency. Users face challenges in proactive troubleshooting, tracking work orders, and managing equipment inventory. The lack of a comprehensive overview of installed base, operations excellence, managed assets, and financials exacerbates operational challenges. A redesigned dashboard is needed to streamline information access, enhance asset management, and improve operational efficiency, empowering users to make informed decisions and achieve excellence.

To address the limitations in real-time information access, asset management, and operational efficiency, the proposed solution involves the design and development of a user-centric post-login dashboard for engageSubsea. This redesigned dashboard will act as the central hub, providing users with a comprehensive overview of critical data and insights, empowering them to make informed decisions and achieve operational excellence.

The design process commenced with a collaborative effort between the UX design team and the product team. The product team provided a detailed design document outlining the requirements for the dashboard, including the key performance indicators (KPIs), data visualization preferences, and functional elements needed to optimize asset management and operational efficiency.

Given the budget constraints for conducting user interviews, an extensive analysis of the current engageSubsea platform and user behavior was conducted through Google Analytics. This analysis provided valuable insights into user preferences, usage patterns, and areas that required improvement. By understanding which modules were accessed most frequently and the specific events within those modules that were commonly utilized, the UX design team prioritized the information that users sought most often.

Furthermore, key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to engageSubsea's objectives were identified, considering factors such as safety, productivity, cost-effectiveness, and overall operational efficiency. After evaluating various design iterations and incorporating status colors, the finalized design prominently displayed the most relevant and critical information, while also providing clear indications of the meaning behind each status color.

A comprehensive evaluation was carried out to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the existing engageSubsea platform. The evaluation focused on identifying the most frequently used modules by different user types or companies. By analyzing the Google Analytics report, it was possible to determine which modules were accessed the most and the specific events within those modules that were most commonly utilized. This analysis provided insights into user preferences, usage patterns, and areas that required improvement.

Utilizing the available Google Analytics report, an in-depth examination of user behavior and interactions within the engageSubsea platform was performed. By studying metrics such as module usage, event frequency, and navigation paths, valuable insights were gained regarding user preferences and priorities. These insights helped shape the design decisions for the post-login page or dashboard, ensuring that the most relevant and commonly accessed information was prominently featured.

As part of the research process, various designs were explored to effectively display Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the redesigned engageSubsea dashboard. One design iteration included the data within the KPI and status colors, but lacked clear indications of what each status color represented. However, through iterative design iterations, the final design solution was achieved. The finalized design incorporates KPIs along with status colors, accompanying status messages that provide clear meaning to the users. Additionally, the importance of each KPI is marked, indicating the priority from highest to lowest, ensuring users can easily interpret and prioritize the information displayed in the dashboard. This approach enhances the accessibility and usability of the dashboard, enabling users to quickly grasp the status, significance, and relative importance of the KPIs at a glance.

By leveraging a comprehensive evaluation of the current site, conducting user research through the Google Analytics report, and identifying relevant KPIs and status messages, the research phase laid a solid foundation for designing an optimized post-login page or dashboard for engageSubsea. The insights obtained from this research informed the subsequent design decisions and ensured that the resulting solution would cater to the specific needs and preferences of offshore oil and gas operators, ultimately enhancing their experience and driving operational efficiency.

Armed with the insights from the research phase and the design document from the product team, I seamlessly transitioned into the design phase. Using industry-leading design tools, such as Figma, I created high-fidelity designs for the key tasks on the desktop, ensuring a consistent and visually appealing user interface. The layout of the dashboard was thoughtfully organized to present the most critical data at the top, followed by supplementary information in a hierarchy of importance. Visual cues, such as charts, graphs, and data cards, were skillfully utilized to aid data comprehension and facilitate quick decision-making for users.

Throughout the design process, I actively engaged in usability testing with relevant stakeholders and engageSubsea users, diligently seeking their feedback to ensure the dashboard met their needs effectively. Any usability issues and pain points identified during testing were addressed through iterative design improvements, leading to an optimized and user-friendly dashboard that catered precisely to the users' preferences and operational requirements. The research insights were seamlessly translated into actionable design decisions, resulting in a comprehensive and efficient post-login page that elevates the user experience and streamlines operational efficiency for offshore oil and gas operators.

As the Lead UX Designer, my contributions to the redesigned post-login dashboard for engageSubsea were substantial. By synthesizing user research and the product team's requirements, I created a design solution that revolutionized equipment and operations management for offshore oil and gas operators.

The dashboard's implementation brought significant benefits, including streamlined troubleshooting, efficient work order tracking, and effective equipment inventory management. Moreover, the comprehensive insights into installed base, operations excellence, managed assets, and financials empowered users to make data-driven decisions, leading to increased productivity, enhanced safety measures, and substantial operational cost savings.
