Problem #1: Tough competition - ecommerce giants, like Amazon and Home Depot that dominate the space. It's not a new and trending market - most of the players here are long-standing.

Problem #2: Nobody knows the brand - it's a start-up trying to build itself up, focusing first on organic search and being discoverable for users already in the market.

Opportunity #1: Google loves niche domains, especially in ecommerce. You can outperform even the biggest ecommerce giants with a well laid out strategy and website structure.

Laying out a wide, horizontal website structure that gives more love to long-tail and niche categories than other ecommerce giants do. This was a key part of the strategy that worked from UX perspective too. Users expect more detailed navigation in specialized retailers.

Over 40 category pages were laid out in the carpets niche, part of it being programmatic, tied in with data on the client's inventory management system. Internal linking was a key part, boosting higher competition pages in this way, knowing we will not have a decent off-site budget to work with.
