Track 1 on The Bitter Truth

“Artifact / The Turn” is the opening track on Evanescence’s fifth album, The Bitter Truth. It consists of two songs in one, with the first being recorded and programmed by Amy Lee herself in her laptop in a hotel room on tour in 2019, and the other a collaboration with Scott Kirkland of the Crystal Method.

What have the artists said about the song? Amy Lee talked about the song in the cover story of Kerrang! Magazine for the second week of March 2021:

I see the beginning of the album as starting from a Ground Zero place after a tragedy, and then, when the guitars come in, for me, that’s getting back up.

Comprende due canzoni in una, con la prima registrata e settata dalla stessa Amy Lee [la cantante, NdT] sul suo laptop in una stanza d'hotel, durante il tour del 2019, mentre l'altra è una collaborazione con Scott Kirkland dei Crystal Method.

Vedo l'inizio dell'album come una "partenza da zero" dopo una tragedia, e dopo, quando entrano le chitarre, per me, tutto si rimette in sesto.
