The Shift Network — Mindfulness App UI (Finalist Project)
Creating a calm, intuitive experience for guided meditation & personal growth.
CASE STUDY — COMPLETE VERSION
Overview
The Shift Network is a mindfulness and personal-growth app offering guided sessions, courses, and therapeutic practices. The challenge: build a UI that feels instantly calming while remaining intuitive for users of all skill levels. My design made it to the Finalist stage.
Goal
Design an interface that reduces friction, lowers cognitive load, and helps users transition into a mindful state the moment they enter the app.
My Approach
1. Calm Visual Language
I used soft neutrals, subtle gradients, and gentle spacing to create a sense of visual breathing room. The interface avoids clutter, letting users focus on their emotional and mental state.
2. Intuitive Navigation for Every Level
The app caters to beginners and experienced practitioners. I structured the UI with simple onboarding, clear categories, and predictable patterns—so anyone can find the right session in seconds.
3. Guided Session Experience
The session screen was designed to feel like a “safe space”:
Large, clear controls
Focused typography
Minimal distractions
This supports deep immersion during meditation or guided practices.
4. Course Flow Design
Users can explore multi-day transformational courses. I built a clean module breakdown with progress indicators and simple “continue where you left off” functionality.
Outcome
A visually calm, intuitive, and emotionally supportive app interface that aligns with mindfulness values—earning a spot as a Finalist in the design competition.
