Big cities and flashing lights do not always cut it when we crave that small hometown feel. Where should you go if you want a few days off from all of the hustle and bustle of real life and want to put on the shoes of your favorite Hallmark movie character? Maybe you are craving romance, some quality time with loved ones, or just a breath of fresh air. This is a list of places located in the pacific northwest that are a must add to your list of getaways. 
Leavenworth, Washington 
If you are looking for a town straight out of a movie, this is the place for you. Located at the heart of mountains, this German inspired small town is the perfect place for a cozy weekend. If you are planning to go in the winter, Leavenworth has a beautiful array of twinkling lights, horse drawn carriages, and Christmas shopping that makes you feel like you are the star of your own movie. But, this town is not only for the wintertime. The summer is a magical place for some of the most beautiful hikes in Washington, the Enchantments. Try to hike in the morning and then you can cool off in the river that runs through town. 
Ashland, Oregon
This little town is nestled in the picturesque valley in between the Cascades and the Siskiyou mountain ranges. Home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, make sure to visit from the months of February to October to catch a glimpse of what this amazing town has to offer. Ashland is a cultural hotspot. It is home to award-winning galleries, theaters and restaurants. It also has a reputation for amazing outdoor recreation in the city-limits and beyond.
Nevada City, California 
Nevada City, California stands at the gateway to Tahoe National Forest. With this being said, this city offers an abundance of opportunities for outdoor recreation. If you enjoy the outdoors, this is a place for you. You can hike, boat, kayak, cycle, mountain bike, climb, ski, or snowboard. This town is home to one of the most beautiful stretches of river in America. This small town is also home to the award-winning Nevada City Film Festival, and the Wild and Scenic Film Festival. In this small town there is always something to do and something for everyone. Make sure to plan your vacation with the activities available in town that weekend. 
Sun Valley, Idaho 
If you are a fan of skiing or snowboarding, or want to escape to a beautiful ski town, Sun Valley is the place for you. This beautiful town is the first destination ski town in the United States which made skiing a popular glamorous vacation pastime and has inspired the slew of postcard-worthy ski towns that we now have across the country. If you want to visit in the summer, do not fret, there are still many outdoor activities to participate in. You can go hiking, biking, or even fly fishing. This beautiful town will make you feel like the main character of your own movie. 
Livingston, Montana 
Livingston is a historic train town from the late 1880s that will keep you wanting to come back. This was the “Original Gateway City to Yellowstone National Park”. Now, this is the place where adventure, beautiful scenery and friendly residents await. This is a great place to visit if you enjoy hiking. This town is surrounded by four beautiful wild mountain ranges that offer an abundance of outdoor activities year round. Whether that is fly fishing or dog sledding, or horseback riding there is a meet-cute available for everyone.
