ChrossX: Lightweight Crosshair Overlay Development

Most crosshair overlay tools I tried were overpriced, heavy on resources, or just complicated. I wanted something simple and dependable that wouldn’t get in the way of gameplay—so I built ChrossX.
ChrossX is a lightweight, performance‑optimized overlay built with Electron.js and Node.js. It focuses on clarity and control: an intuitive UI for customizing crosshairs without the bloat, while staying friendly on CPU/GPU so frames stay smooth. It’s built with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and tuned to feel invisible until you need it.
Adoption came quickly: over 40,000 downloads in the first month. Since then, it has evolved into a premium product with a loyal community of 500+ daily active users. The transition from free to paid kept momentum because the app stayed fast, reliable, and easy to trust.
Next up, I’m preparing a Steam release, deeper crosshair customization, and collaborations with gaming communities. I’m also using analytics and feedback loops to keep improving the product where it matters most to players.
