I found out about the Contra × @Renoise Challenge when it was almost over, so I had very limited time, but still wanted to jump in and test Renoise. I usually create videos by combining many different AI tools, so exploring a node-based workflow in Renoise felt genuinely fresh and exciting. The final video has plenty of imperfections, because it was made fast and experimentally, so don’t judge it too harshly :) The story is basically about how I feel (spoiler - I feel surrrealistic😆) in my own neighborhood: I live in one of Kyiv’s more rough-edged districts, but its uncanny, marginal, almost chthonic beauty has completely captured me.

For the past few months, I’ve been studying on two intensive programs at the same time - one focused on AI for motion design and the other on art direction. There were moments when I genuinely thought I wouldn’t survive the workload 😅 Now that both programs are finished, it feels strangely unfamiliar to leave work and simply go home instead of rushing to another class. And I have to admit - I’m already experiencing a bit of withdrawal 🤭 So I wouldn’t be surprised if I sign up for another big learning adventure sooner rather than later 🙈 For now, though, I’m excited to start sharing some of the projects and results that came out of these past months of learning.

Hi, I'm Olena - motion designer based in Ukraine 👋 Just joined Contra and wanted to share something I'm proud of: a book trailer for a children's story about Pan Shchur (Mr. Rat). This one was made with AI-assisted animation - and I'll be honest, I know that word makes some people nervous. But here's my take: for clients with limited budgets, AI tools can be a genuine solution. A trailer like this, done fully by hand (cutting illustrations, rigging, animating) would cost more and take longer. That doesn't mean AI replaces craft. It means knowing when to use which tool. Balance is everything. Happy to connect with other creators here!
