Odugbemi Opeyemi's Work | ContraWork by Odugbemi OpeyemiOdugbemi Opeyemi
Web designer and Full-stack Web developer
A concept redesign for a Leeds hair extensions business that already had strong credentials: 19× award-winning, an international educator, and featured in fashion publications. But customer reviews kept returning to something more personal: feeling confident, comfortable, understood, and natural. I used those themes to shape clearer messaging and layout. A website concept for a lash extensions business, built from customer research into recurring signals: specialist expertise, professionalism, and a relaxed appointment experience. I turned those findings into a site designed to sit between Instagram discovery and Treatwell booking. Starlit is a landing page concept for a tool that helps local businesses ask every customer for a Google review. I designed and built it from scratch in HTML and CSS, working step by step with an AI assistant for guidance and making the final calls myself.
Design decisions:
A serif and sans-serif pairing with a tight warm palette, so it doesn’t look like a generic SaaS template
A bento-style feature layout, where card size shows what matters most, instead of identical icon cards
One primary call to action, repeated through the page, with a recommended pricing plan that moves to the top on mobile
Policy-aware copy: every customer is offered the same public review link, with a private note as an optional extra
Quality checks: I audited it with Lighthouse and fixed contrast, heading order, and accessibility issues:
Desktop: 99 performance, 92 accessibility, 92 best practices, 100 SEO;
Mobile: performance 96, 92 accessibility, 92 best practices, 100 SEO.
I also critiqued an AI-generated page for the same product, see my second project. I critiqued an AI-generated landing page (Lovable) for a review-request tool, then held my own page, Starlit, to the same standard. The critique covers policy-conflicting copy, unsourced proof, navigation and mobile gaps, and what the AI did well. My own page gets the same treatment, including the accessibility score I still need to improve.
