This is a demo I created for "World of Ski."
The concept was to bring Nordic skiing into an app by gamifying the training experience. I have developed a complete character design that allows users to customise their ski wear colour and facial features.
Using the power of data binding, the app would be linked to a machine to receive real-time data on the watts generated during training. Based on the amount of power generated, the character moves at different speeds. The track will follow real maps, changing its incline throughout the game.
Character movements are modelled after real-life video references, including the typical start used in Nordic ski competitions.
Some time ago, I was asked to work on this project and it turned out to be such a fun one!
The versatility of the illustrations gave endless possibilities to dress up and shape Yaki in so many ways. From taking inspiration from West End shows to celebrating holidays, everything came together so smoothly. It is true that once you build a strong structure and concept, everything else just falls into place!
